Why are so many people forgetting the order (ie power)

so for an equation

3 x (9+5-2) - (2)^squared

Brackets = (9+5-2) = 12

3 x 12 - (2)^squared

Order = (2)^squared = 4

3 x 12 - 4

Division

Multiplication = 3 x 12 = 36

36 - 4

Addition

Subtraction = 36 - 4 = 32

Answer 32

well, BODMAS refers to mnemonic technique used to remember to the sequence of solving a mathematical expression.
It is formed by :-
1.) B from Bracket
2.) O from Of
3.) D from Division
4.) M from Multiplication
5.) A from Addition
6.) s from Subtraction

The order is used to solve arithmetic expressions, starting from first to the last.

Brackets Of Division Multiplication Addition Subtraction

simply shows the order in which the arithmetical operations should be solved, e.g.

2(2+3-4X5/6) - 3

you must do 5/6 first, then multiply the answer by 4. then you must take this away from (2+3). see?

you have just solved the BRACKET, which you must do first. next is OF, which is pretty much multiplication anyways by the number outside the bracket. so multiply your result with 2. then take away 3, and BOOM! got ur answer!! :P

Bracket of Division multiplication Addition Subtraction.

Its the oorder you solve maths so that a question has a universal answer.

Thats what makes maths special, where ever you do it you get the same answer.

bodmas- brackets of division, multiplication, addition and subtraction
in a rational expression, always solve the terms in the bracket first then, the divisibles, the multiplting terms, the addittives and finall subtract
this is the simplest and easiest way of solving a big rational expression and also getting the right answer!!!!!!!!!!!!

Brackets,Others?, Division, Multiplication, Addition and Subtraction, sorry I can't be sure thats what the O stands for but its the order of how you tackle an equation (it was circa 1995 that I saw this acronym!). Hope this helps.
