this is news to me. when will this go into effect?
i am assuming the priests who prey on the little boys will be put to death as well. they certaintly shouldn't be treated any different than someone who works at McDonald's or is a doctor. if anything they should be the most severely punished because of the work they do. at mass, they talk about sinning and how it is wrong and how we need to be God-abiding and help others to help ourselves....and after that they go to the back room and molest a child that looks up to them. it's disgusting and they should be treated like the criminals they are.

It will have the same effect as it will have on other religions that have pastors, ministers, rabbis and whatever else you call the Holy Man or teachers and others entrusted with our youths (security guards, medical personnel, etc).
I hope they do pass this as law and that all of the other states follow along and enact the same legislation but add that the guilty should be executed in 3 years, regardless of appeals and legal maneuvers to prolong his life among the living! In cases where the child dies, whether or not the child was tortured, DEATH to the bastard! They are usually found guilty after years of victimizing dozens and dozens of innocent children... to hell with them all, regardless of ethnic background, racial background, religious background and regardless of political affiliations and/or socio-economic standing... a particular singer comes to mind!
I wish Capital Punishment WAS a mandatory Federal Law so that each and every state would either send those bastards to life without the possibility of parole (set them loose in the regular prison population and make them into prison whores) in cases where the child is not tortured/killed and death penalty within 3 years maximum wait if the child is tortured/killed, regardless of the b/s appeals (after a mandatory and thorough DNA examination).
The only exception would be if the so-called perpetrator was only a few years older than the supposed "victim," and it was not a forced rape or an assault with a weapon or did not involve torture and/or murder (borderline statutory rape, where the supposed perp is 21 and the supposed victim is 17 and they were engage in sexual activity willingly; or, where the supposed perp is 18 and the supposed victim is 16... and a willing participant in the sexual activity, and not under duress).
I am normally against the death penalty except when it comes to instances of rape, torture and murder of children, and those that feel that because they're already in prison doing life or lengthy sentences they can go and kill someone else or threaten or attack prison personnel.
All prisoners should be made to learn a trade to make footwear, clothes and furniture to donate to poor countries, and help pay for their incarceration and food. If they refuse, then they should be kept in solitary confinement to keep them from getting into trouble; prison is not a vacation!

Child molesters of all persuasions will be equally liable under the law. Your bias against catholics is showing! I however hate all perverts who harm children with equal venom, and believe that they should all be impaled for their horrible crime, upon conviction. Cruel and unusual crimes against the innocent should have cruel and unusual penalties.
