I want the details as a mapping between NDD/STD codes and latitude/longitude combination.

Also, my requirement is like I have to upload all the data into a database. So I want a soft copy of the information rather than what Google earth provides.

There are two ways that complement each other. The first is to use a map that contains the latitude and longitude grid lines. DeLorme's gazeteers are excellent for this if you go by paper. Most mapping programmes also handle this as well. The intersection of the latitude line (running east-west) and the longitude line (running north-south) is your location. The second way is by using the Global Positioning System. For anywhere from $100 to $1000, you can purchase a GPS receiver. Simply enter the latitude and longitude into the GPS unit, and it will tell you how far away you are and which direction to go in order to reach the location. Hope that helps.

Go to Google.com and download and install Google Earth.

When you go to any location on the face of the earth, it shows the latitude and longitude in the bottom left hand corner of the screen.

You can select an address (e.g. 21 Main St, Calcutta, India) and it will show you the exact lat & long for that address.

Hope this is what you're looking for.
