I'm looking at Tisch but they don't really tell much about their program and although it's my dream school I'm starting to have doubts about it's program. Can anyone help? Alumni?

Tisch is a highly regarded school; I have met some of their professors at professional conferences and been impressed with their knowledge and their clarity of communications. However, they do not have a specific undergraduate program in technical theatre. They have a graduate design program, which means the cream positions and best opportunities for experience will go to graduate students. Tisch is a very, very good school, but always remember, if a school has a graduate program in your field, graduate students will always get preferential treatment over undergraduates.

I attended NYU from 1961 through 1967 and among other degrees, achieved a theater technolgy degree. I found it most valid along with techniques in drama, comedy, etc, ON STAGE.

I will offer this,,,most often quoted by TECHS. Upon your getting the degree, as you leave the building, toss away the BIG gray book, and prep for REAL world theater. Another I offer relative to TECHS is,,, "DONE is better than GOOD"

I lived in the East Village and the exposure to "Culture" was likely the most valid experience I ever had.

It may be less regarded than schools dealing strictly in THEATER, but they are not mythical in what they offer. IT is NYC after all. The WOMB of culture.

Good hunting to ya.

Tisch is a highly regarded school within the theatre community and has an excellent program. There is a lot of info on their website http://www.tisch.nyu.edu/page/home.html, but if you can't find what you need, contact them and ask them your specific questions. They're very good about responding. They also have an open house but I think it was held already.

It's probably included in their general theater degree program. Write or them or go to the website and request a course catalogue for the Theater Department.
