Mauresmo is a confidence player. She has kept it together better in the last 18 months but still lacks the mental toughness to be consistently great. She has all the tools, but can get very shaky at times - it's almost like she knows it is coming but can't do anything about it. This year is crucial for her, I think she will either become dominant or start losing to a lot of Lucies.

Well, she is known to get bumped out surprisingly easily on many occasions. Here are some occasions that I can remember:
1.Serena Williams beat her 6-1 6-2 in the 2003 French Open quarters.
2.Clijsters mauled her 6-2 6-0 in the 2003 WTA championships final.
3.Clijsters beat her 6-0 6-1 in 2004, Kay Biscayne semis.
4.Serena beat her 6-2 6-2 in the 2005 Aussie Open quarters.
5.Many don't remember this, but she had lost 1-6 2-6 to Justine in a tournament's semis last year.
6.She lost to the inconsistent Kuznetsova in straight sets, in all their three meetings last year.
7.She was bumped out 7-6 1-6 3-6 by Nicole Vaidisova in the 4th round of the 2006 Australian Open.
8.She had also lost 4-6 3-6 to Elena Dementieva, who has a virtually non-existent service in the 2004 French Open quarters.
9.She became the first ever top-seeded player in grand slam history to lose 2 sets by 0-6, in her 0-6 6-4 0-6 loss to Maria Sharapova in the 2006 US Open semis.
10.This year, Jelena Jankovic beat her 7-5 6-0 in the Sydney Open quarters.
11.Mary Pierce beat her 6-4 6-1 in the 2005 US Open quarters.

I know that all these players are / were in-form when they had crushed Amelie, but still she is probably the only top player out there to have lost so many matches so easily. And she has been constantly a top-5 player since 2003.

cos mauresmo was not playing too good and was giving lucie a lot of time to adjust herself and hit the ball hard.also she could not handle the pressure.

Think she wasn't too well prepared...or maybe a bit of Rose before the match

I really feel sorry 4 her...she is my 2nd favourite after Henin
