Hearing coming up 2/6, and child has been stoned, and drunk the last month now. She has not been taking her meds for bipolar, and on awol status. NO ONE is helping me. She comes home this morning at 5am and theres dried blood on her jacket. She's not bruised, but she's ran into a problem with some form of addiction. I'm in milwaukee, and if I call police to clear missing persons report, they just ask the formal, were you involved in a crime, were you assaulted, etc. (she'll lie) But she's in need of protective services because the drugs are going to kill her. I can't arrest her because I don't have a ground to keep her detained. What can I do? I've sent letter to judge, Probation and WrapAround, and no one can do anything. No one is calling me. I don't want to hear I'm sorry in the end, but I feel its coming to this if nothing is done. Any answers out here? Hurry

Time for some tough love on your part. Call any rehab, get her in asap, and if your teen is still unwilling to participate in helping herself, then it'll be time to involve the police and have her arrested for underage drinking, drug possession, etc. Sooner or later she'll clean up, but not without tough love.

If the probation officer is not returning your calls, I would call the District Attorney's office and complain. Also try calling the office for Guardian Ad Litem to find out if the court can appoint one to oversee her. Also try Department of Children & Families. Also try finding out if there are grounds to have her "Baker Act-ed"; here in Florida, a person can be hospitalized if they are determined to be a danger to themselves or others; maybe a similar law exists in Wisconsin? Also call Narcotics Anonymous and ask for advice. Also call the nearest chapter of Tough Love. They are a wonderful organization with solutions based in reality and experience.

Don't give up. Keep dialing. You are this troubled teen's best, and possibly only, advocate. Good luck. I understand the hell you are in.

Also - get some help for yourself. You need all the support you can get.

In probation you'll keep on with their rules and can want to have regulations. as an social gathering: they could ask you to go back once a month for drug attempting out and also you may want to no longer pass to any eating bars or golf equipment.
