Political correctness is restricting language and behavior so that individuals and groups are not offended. This has a negative outcome of creating an environment of less honesty. It can also be dangerous. For example, airport security cannot racial profile so they might pat down an elderly woman, but let the middle easterner with the shoe bomb go through security without the proper level of scrutiny. This behavior can also hamper police departments from getting the bad guys because of the same racial profiling restriction can cause the drug dealer from being scrutinized.

I believe political correctness started off as a good concept, the attempt to keep any and all groups from being offended. However it is a flawed idea. Just living can offend someone, look at the way most radical Muslims feel about Jews...
In our current society, political correctness has become a monster that we can no longer control. We cannot say or think anything without someone screaming that we are being politically incorrect. We shouldn't use this world, we shouldn't think this about that type of people. Words are just that, words. It is how they are used and the context that they are set in that makes them incorrect.
i.e. - The politically correct term for someone of small stature is 'Little Person'... the incorrect term is 'Midget'. I cannot imagine a term so demeaning as 'little person'... it sounds like they are talking about the Munchkins from the Wizard of Oz or something.
REMEMBER, words don't hurt people, dumb-*** people do!

Undoubtedly this is true, and you've put it very well.
Few would question the correctness of overturning the discrimination against black people in the southern USA, and later in South Africa. If further justification were needed, one group were dragged there as slaves, while the other were the indigenous people of Africa.
This is very different I would contend from questioning the rights of say travellers from Ireland to take land and often destroy property in the UK, or as seen recently, a job centre preventing an employer from specifying a German speaker for a job dealing with a customer in German-speaking Austria.
Unfortunately I don't think CBBrother will lead to open and frank debate, which will be a rare opportunity lost.
We will have to carry on with our Lottery money squandered on politically correct but morally repugnant schemes, while deserving cases don't meet the criteria.
Our council tax will continue to soar, while councils are forced to hire linguists to cover every language spoken in its area.
The wife-swap Bardsleys and their like will continue to collect £37000 a year for doing nowt, as we daren't tell them to get off their backsides and help themselves, as they'd have to do in the States; but woe betide you if you want to rent a council house, and you haven't got two kids or more, and were actually brought up in the area.
Barmy; I'd say so.

A study of the history of any state-protected religion will show that this has always been the case. The current state-protected religions include Holocaust mandatory belief in some European countries, global warming, anti-western fundamentalism in several Islamic countries, and various other social programs.
A quick view of the strife between protestant and catholic heresy persecution in England from about 1500 through 1680 is very illuminating on this aspect.
There is an old line that says that where sun-worship is mandatory, examining the laws of heat is a crime.

Yes - political correctness clouds the truth and what is right because is prevents people from saying what they think in case it 'offends' or infinges on someones 'human rights.' To prevent freedom of speech is opression and in fact an infringement on anybodies basic human right so in that respect political correctness is flawed and complete nonsense.

The government do NOT like critical thinkers/people who make their own minds up.
Why do you think the education system is always conveniently getting worse and we are force-fed dumbed down crap like Celebrity BB all the time?

No, the overuse of PC does though... if someone is fat, then they are fat they are not just large.
Its stopping bad radical thinking which is great, but also stops ideas as people are thinking they might offend someone.
