In theory it doesn't matter who you use it shouldn't affect your refund. Your refund is based on you income and deduction and taxes paid in.

If you do not have any taxes withheld it really reduces the chances you will get a refund.

Having said that, the smartest person may also not get you the biggest refund. Many services incorrectly prepare returns and the IRS later makes you pay it back.

My point in all this is that your goal should not be getting the biggest refund since that may be a huge headache down the road, but rather you should look for the preparer that prepares your return correctly and takes advantage of all the available deductions and credits to maximize your refund.

For simple returns it is easy for all preparers to come up with the same tax return, but for complex returns it is difficult.

They are all just about the same. If done correctly your refund should be about the same. As for H and R block and other companies hiring off of the street. These people have to take a course of theirs and they test these people on their knowledge. This course is a couple of months long and about 2-3 hours a day for 3 days a week

Unless somebody does something wrong, they should come up with the same refund.

You can always do them yourself and not have to fork over a big fee.

Really, taxes are not that hard. They even come with a little instruction manual.

Do it yourself, you will understand taxes and the law better, and you won't owe anyone for their services.
