To catch a mouse, set a trap. Please use a NO-KILL mouse trap such as the HavaHart. Place the trap along the base of the wall or in places where there is evidence that a mouse exists. Use peanut butter on a small piece of bread to bait the trap. Check the traps often, very often. Release the mouse back into the wild.
I noticed you posted in the reptile category. :( Hopefully, the mouse wasn't food for it/him/her.
Visit havahart.com or victorpest.com to see or purchase the traps. Some hardware stores also rent NO-KILL traps.

A rule about mice. if they are invading your home, well sure getting a cat could help, but not all cats are good mousers-I have an excellent cat for catching mice.
Now about the rule...Mice always stick to walls. You will hardly ever notice them running in the open. If you plan to use traps set them up against the wall, not in the middle of the room.
Try adding peanut butter, mice like it! Contrary to popular belief they really prefer peanut butter.
If you have mice holes in walls put steel wool in it. They hate that!

If its in the cage/box just try to catch its tail. If it's an escapee, then i'd suggest one of two methods:
Either try to get some kind of small box that you'll cover him with and then transfer it to table or couch where it will be easy for you to get it,
Or try to chase it to a corner and then be quick in catching it. Be caresul they can bite :)
Dont try to chase it around and in circles, they're very quick and agile. But if you're really bored or smt then it's probable that you'll tire it down.. They can run but not for veeeery long..
These two things work.. try chasing 12 mice.. sucess rate: 100%
Good luck! :)

Use a life trap if you don't want to kill it.....regular snap trap if you don't mind the mouse being dead.
Never use clue traps....mice have been known to chew of their own leg or foot of to escape from those.....that's just to cruel for me.
