I can certainly see why that would be very tramatizing, thank you for sharing.
Hopefully you've made peace with yourself over it, and walked away from it in the best way possible.
From an outside perspective, it seems like you were spared through fate, luck, or destiny. It doesn't matter what. It doesn't matter how. To me, what's important is that you're alive.
I hope that you look at this not with fear of others or of going in public or things like that but rather as a sign that you (and everyone) should live life to the fullest.
You never know when it's your time to go. It wasn't your time. Your time is not known, none of ours are, so we'd better make the most of it while we can. I'm not saying you should go waste all your money, I'm just saying that if everyone thought like me, that time was precious and we had little to waste, then we'd treat each other a whole lot differently.
I think it's time we started treating each other with respect and honesty, warmness and helpfulness. It's time we started living life happily, in cooperation. Even if we don't know our time, we can be sure that the longest time isn't all so long after all. The longest time is rather short so let's enjoy it.

It's not by accident nor by miracle that you survived from such a terrible event , you are being thaught a lesson , so make sure that you are getting it well :-)
I have attended many times groups of near death experiences, when people experience going out of their body and then coming back, and it changes their lives.
My unforgettable experience is when I sang in front of a real public for the first time ,and that they really liked my performance ! I have always sung to my family ,friends ,I mean close firends, but never stranger people. I was very nervous to go and take the micro while all these eyes were staring at me, but once I did it ,I felt so good, i felt that I ve got power and that I'm sharing my voice ,my feelings and my person with people. It was great, and I will never forget it.

WOW! Congratulations on having survived that, I can't even begin to imagine the trauma you went through.
My most unforgettable experience isn't traumatic, I'd have to say it was the birth of my daughter...I never wanted to have children as I thought I'd make a horrible parent (having had one myself) but when she was born, well, everything changed for me, mostly for the better.

The labor and birth of my son. 30 excruciating hours of labor followed by the most beautiful gift I've ever been given.
