Because you've got a chance to unload on someone whose opinion doesn't really matter. Some people use a journal, some people talk to a priest, and some people talk to their taxi driver, bartender, or whoever else they happen to meet.
Sometimes it's easier to tell certain things to strangers because you most likely won't meet them again, so what they think of you, your problems, doesn't really matter. And they may not even be able to give the answer you're looking for, but at least you get to unload it all.

I don't think people do. Most of the people you see talking to bartenders are regulars who know them. I don't ever see people telling their life stories to taxi drivers either. Maybe in the movies but not real life.

People who don't know you are less likely to judge you, hence why we tell the hairdresser and taxi driver everything, but dont dare tell our friend!
Sometimes you can say more to a stranger: they don't have a clue who or what you are on about, so they can't make judgements on anyone or anything.

I don't know, there's something personalized with some customer service jobs. ANd if you want to talk about a job where clients come to gossip than go to a beauty salon. Everytime I go the (which isn't very often) the workers gossip with each other and start conversations with clients. Hell, it's even better than going to a shrink:)

I swear some people just like to hear themselves talk!I can kinda understand pouring your heart out to a bartender if you hammered,and I know it makes their job a little more interesting.But as far as just talking a strangers ear off,these people need to realize no one wants to hear what they have to say,so annoying!
