Hi ,I just bought a Antec smart power supply 500 watt fan for my pc...all was fine for 3 days then my system started to become unstable with my CD burner trying to start up by itself and then it would freeze my pc up...i returned my pc back to the computer store to fine out what is the problem since i feel it has to do with that new fan...the old fan i use to have was only a 350 watt....well the computer store is trying to blame what happen on my electricity...which i cannot understand how since i never had a problem before nor do i have any other problems with anything else the room that my pc is plugged in ...i have checked to see what all is on the breaker for my room and it is just lights and my tv...so what i would like to know is how much does a 500 watt draw for usuage and if there is more usage being over drawn on a breaker wouldnt this blow first? rather then my burner trying to start up on my pc?.please if anyone has any suggestions to this mystery..Thanks..

Your fan is not 500 Watts... your Antec power supply is capable of delivering 500 Watts of power. The fan draws only a couple of Watts.

From your description, it sounds like you either have a loose power supply connection or your Antec power supply is bad. If you still have your old power supply, reconnect it and see if you have any PC problems. If you have no problems, then there is something wrong with the Antec 500-Watt supply. Before you swap power supplies, make sure all the connectors are plugged in firmly and test to see if that fixes the problem.

Good luck!
