In addition to my last question, someone suggested electrolysis, does that hurt too?

I found it uncomfortable but am not good with pain. You could always go to your local salon and ask if they will do a 'test' area on you and you'll be able to see what it feels like.

Electrolysis is the only method of hair removal allowed by the FDA to say "Permanent Hair Removal". When performed by a competent electrologist, it is comfortable and permanent.

The sensation is equal to a tweeze. But you should never feel like your being tweezed. The Electrologist insert a wire filiment into the hair follicle (there is no piercing of the skin) and applies a small direct current to the hair cells. The application of this current is the only thing you will feel and can hardly tell the difference between that sensation and the sensation of being plucked.

Then once the follicle is dead, they remove the hair (which should come right out with now feeling if it was done correctly). Sometimes you will feel a slight tug on tougher hairs but if you feel tweezed at this point you probably are being tweezed and you should find another electrologist.

Because most states do not require licensing for Electrologists, their are many out there doing it improperly which is why their is so much mis-understanding about Electrolysis.

Many people think laser has been approved for permanent hair removal because they associate new technology with superior results. Although this is often the case, it is not true with hair removal.

Only a few manufactures have been approved to say "Permanent Hair Reduction" (subtle huh) and if the practioner isn't using one of those models (and most don't), they aren't even allowed to say that.

Find a good electrologist in your area by using these general guidelines (http://www.4electrolysis.com/competent.php) and make the commitment of time (about 12-18 months). If you stick to it, you will spend less money they you would have with laser and you will be finished forever.

i missed ur earlier question.
i bought an electrolysis kit for my ex.
they are supposed to be a little painful
but no more so than other things.
they are considered to be the most effective
of treatments as they kill the hair at the root
and re growth takes a lot longer.
she never used it! prefers to use a razor??

might be worth a try tho??

Electrolysis is a system of hair removal. A slight electrical current is applied to the follicle of each hair, which kills the hair and prevents regrowth. It's a cosmetic procedure.

it hurts slightly - and it really depends on how experienced the person is doing it - i went to one person locally and they were slow and therefore the pain was extended - however the one i have been going to recently is quick - it is however expensive as the hairs in question don't usually go first time round - you have to wait for them to grow again then take them out again and so on - so it can take a long long time...the other thing to bear in mind is on your face it can caused tiny pimples which take in my experience a week to disappear - so don't have it done before a special event
