The PS2 will read your PS1 memory card. If your doesn't then there mite be a problem with your card or the slot inwhich the card goes into. It will only work with old PS1 games though will not save your PS2 games also PS2 memory card will not save PS1 games niether.

The PS2 unit can read a PS1 memory card. It works on mine. I would suggest either buy an new memory card and copy your files over to the new memory card and try then, or check to see if your current memory card is damaged or has dust in it. But, it can and should read your PS1 memory card.

I've had no problem with my PS2 reading PS1 cards, maybe your data is corrupted, that's reall the only reason I can think that it wouldn't read the mem card.

I can't say the memory card doesn't work, because mine worked for saving games and copying files. I put it in the second slot, if that helps. But mine did work. I don't know if this'll help, but...well.
