Hi, does anyone know anywhere in the UK where I might be able to purchase a RCMP (Canadian Mountie) "red surge" outfit (the red official outfit)? Either official or unofficial, but not the tacky ones in the fancy dress shops, one that looks the part. Thanks,

Dan

Have checked ebay, to no avail. I can find the official hat to purchase, and even seen the boots, but the rest of the outfit I can't seem to find

Many Brits experience that way. What you have reported greater or less sums up Her Majesties function as "Head of the country" yet no longer her entire function as Head of State or Head of the Commonwealth. explanation why the Monarchy is a greater powerful image is by the fact the sovereign is often there "The King is ineffective, long stay the King" the place as Churchill and Shakespeare are long gone spectacular although they have been of their day they like a number of concern pass on however the Monarchy is a phoenix it keeps occurring. additionally England isn't a Kingdom. Elizabeth II is Queen of the united kingdom.

There used to be a costume hirers on Shaftsbury Avenue, London WC2. Pretty good they were. Would supply to the local theaters as far i i know.
Also used to be (probably still is) a place in Camden, London NW1. Again, they would supply to the film and theater companies.
Can't remember their names though. Sorry.

Edited to add. You could contact the National Theatre, London SW9, they hire out costumes http://www.nationaltheatre.org.uk/?lid=20631

why not contact the Canadian Embassy in London to see whether they know of anyone that could lend you one or can recommend where to hire one.
Failing that, try advertising in a newspaper for help.
