Basically, what is the best way to make yourself look cool without trying to much (being natural) whilst maintaining a good standard in your performance without too much distraction for yourself and concentrating in what you are actually doing on stage? I am shy guy and not the type of person who would get As in drama. I have stagefright and I can't stand people looking at me.
What is the best solution to overcome this problem? What are the best ways to make yourself confident on stage without being considered stupid, boring, gay and foolish by the audience?

Just so you know, I am 13 and I have some gay mannerisms, so I have a fairly strong reputation of being 'gay' at school. lol.

Thanks. (:

The only to way to not look or feel stupid is to really really become the part. Whatever song you choose, you have to know who the person singing it is supposed to be and become it so believably that the audience will see you as the character, not you. This also helps with stagefright if it isn't you up there, but the Artful Dodger or Aladdin.

If you are singing Oliver's "Where is Love", you need to become an orphan wistfully questioning if anyone is out there who will ever love him. If you are singing Bye Bye Birdie's "Honestly Sincere", you need to become the suave and charming Elvis-like Conrad Birdie wooing an audience. And if you really become the part, you will be realistic and not overdone.

Utterly convincing always looks good!

First of all, "RELAX", don't stress over perceptions of others.

"Be yourself" is totally valid, and GAY isn't a Death Sentence in most courts, whether one is or isn't.

The most base thing you need to do is INVOLVE yourself in a role, in spite of anyone elses perceptions. BE the character, as if it IS Real Life. Certainly it's "Acting" and I can't count the number of those who might openly discredit those who ACT.

BTW,,,COOL is relative, and mostly to how YOU feel about YOU. Self confidence is an evolutionary process, especially at 13 years of age. You have a lot on your "plate"

Exploring your passion is far more worth the effort than worry over whether others accept that course you choose.

"Life is LONG, Pace yourself."

you know,,you should get over your fear first...
i too had stage fright, but after i have performed once,,,i got over it..
next is that you should love what you are doing...
don't think about people looking at you,,,you ARE performing so its natural that they look at you...that only means that they are interested in what you are doing...
last is that you always have confidence....
you know you can do it better than anyone...
well,,,you can try to sing on some friends first before on stage so you can practice your moves or gestures and even your facial expression..k?
just go there and do what you love...

=)
