It's probably just old blood - the stuff that didn't make an exit with the rest of it, mixed with discharge. Perfectly normal.
That said, it could be spotting. If you're on a hormonal contraceptive that stops periods, or have run two packs together or something it can happen. If it's come on suddenly and is painful, with no obvious changes that could have caused it, then it might be an idea to go to your doctor to get it checked out.

What brown nasty stuff? Does this happen at the end of your period because if it does that is normal what happens as your menstrual cycle goes off (the blood is normally a brownish color). But if this is happening on a regular bases then something is definitely wrong and you should see a doctor.
