Hello everyone,

I have a second interview coming up which I am told is with the IT Manager (again) and this time with a lady from HR. I have never had a second interview before as I have normally got the job on the first interview. Does anyone know what HR will be going to ask me and what they are looking for?

Any advice given will be greatly appreciated.

Second interviews can go both ways-you can be shown the internal operations, or asked job specific questions. Most of my second interviews were meeting the supervisors and letting them give me a once over.

It is the time where things like salary, benefits, vacation, are also discussed. Once, I took an IQ exam.

Depending on the size of the company, they will be going over some of the specific operations of the organization.

They may make you an offer then.

Good Luck.

Bring the same materials with you that you did on the first interview. It could be that you will meet with other people that have not had a chance to look at your application or resume.

Obviously a lot more in-depth questions. Usually give you certain scenario's, "What would you do in this situation" etc, or "Talk me through a time when you improved productivity etc". It's impossible to be rehearsed for every possible answer. Just be honest, and relax, they obviously think you have potential as you have the 2nd interview.

Good luck.

checking out your knowledge of equal opps, team work, your management ability, your career objectives, etc.

Not really sure, but would guess that your first interview was checking your technical knowledge - can you do the job - the 2nd one is checking you as a person!!
