I think they very well could have been. I do believe they exist in a spiritual sense and also manifest in people known as the otherkin..who believe that they have they soul of such creatures...But I do think they could've once existed physically in this realm...I mean why else would almost every culture have stories of them without ever having contact...unless there is another creature out there that we've missed....but you never know...I mean there are creatures and animals that exist that we are completely unaware of...particularly in the water....

Possibly, Many people believe that there were humans around before all the Dino'saurs died off. Many Dinosaurs would fit the description of most dinos. There are pictures of them in most ancient cultures including China's years, which has only real animals except the Dragon, it is possible that the stories of dragons could have started that way. Not sure about the fire breathing part though. That might be a bit of a stretch or embellishment over the years

YES I AM!!
Actually I'm with mark g on this one. I think stories of dragons are really intresting as they appear all over the world almost simultaneously all with local thoughts tagged on the end of the story. I think it all started with some nobody finding a T-rex skull and taking it to the local royalty with grand stories of their bravery when facing such a mighty beast in the hopes of receiving riches and fame. At a time where everybody but the select few were measly peasants with very little to live for and the general lack of knowledge about the world it would of been very easily believed!

If you would ask a child, he/ she would probably say "Dragons are real". But if you're gonna ask a grown-up, "They're not!". Cause they don't have wide imaginations. They want to be realistic. They hate fiction. But do you think there really are? Maybe yes but not firing breathing.
What's the purpose of asking such question anyway?

Komodo dragons are real, but if you mean giant, fire-breathing scaly dragons that fly, don't you think we'd have seen them often enough by now to count as proof that so called dragonologists saw when they got drunk? of course, i believe in parallel universes created by every probability, so there my be dragons, just not here. in fact, i bet they exist in this universe, somewhere far away........ oh stuff it all!

Yes, I once petted a chinese baby dragon! It was really cute, but it's breath was so hot it burnt my hand a little bit. I still have the burn now. It's a shape of a oval-like heart. I'm really serious, I'm not joking!
