To ease cramps you can take the following steps:
1. Take adequate rest & sleep, it will help you to be in more strength to tolerate pain. Lie down if possible at the first sign of pain.
2. Eat a nutritious diet with adequate calcium( 1000mg/day) and at least 2-3 litres of water.
3. Take regular exercise especially walking.
4. Take a relaxing warm bath.
5. Abdominal massage or rubbing on the back may help.
6. Apply a heat pad or alternately a hot water bottle wraped in a warm towel over abdominal area & back.
7. Avoid caffeine containing drinks/ food & alcohols.
8. Medication: Certain drugs help control pain or actually prevent it. For mild pain: Aspirin/ acetaminophen(Tylenol). For moderate pain: Ibuprofen/ Naproxen/ Ketoprofen.
One should start taking one of these medication 1-2 days before her period begins or at the first sign of pain, that is before pain becomes difficult to control.

Hope these help you.

i have terrible cramps each month-sometimes so bad that i can't work.

tylenol doesn't do much for extreme pain (well for me anyways). i've found ibuprofen to work the best.

take 200-400mg every 6 hours but no more than 1200mg in 24 hours.

also playtex makes these awesome heating pads that you stick to the outside of your underwear that you can wear for up to 8 hours (even while sleeping-they work off your own body heat) to help with cramps. they are about 10 bucks and come 3 to a box. i love them!!

Ibuprofen, like Motrin, usually works. It's a pain reliever, Midol never worked for me...also try Tylenol.
