I have a solar/car battery system setup, and want to run an outside Security PIR Light using 12 Volts. Is it possible to buy a 240V Security Pir Light (fairly cheap to buy), and change it to work with a 12V supply?

I can get 12V 50watt Halogen bulbs no problem, its the PIR sensor i can't find. Does anyone know where I could get one from or if it is possible to change the PIR circuitry to accept a 12V supply as opposed to 240V mains?

Cheers

Absolutely not. The element that lights up has a certain amount of electrical resistance (ohms) depending on the voltage to be used. The resistance on a 12v is not proper for 240v and would immediately burn out when used.

NO! the bulbs are differnent and the 12v will not brighten the bulb enough. Your only using 12v for a 240v light bulb. Another thing the 12v work on DC the 240v work on AC another reason they will not work. The 12v bulb will blow.

If it is possible, the ones to know would be either an electrical contractor or an electrical supply house (commercial).
