India is not a developed country by any standards.
We have a long way to go to qualify ourselves as being called a developed nation. Wikipedia defines a developed nation as follows:-
"The term developed country is used to categorise countries with developed economies in which the tertiary and quaternary sectors of industry dominate.

This level of economic development usually translates into a high income per capita and a high Human Development Index (HDI). Countries with high gross domestic product (GDP) per capita often fit the above description of a developed economy. "
It gives a comprehensive list of developed nations, among which in Asia, the name of India does not figure.

Asia
Hong Kong ( People's Republic of China)
Israel
Japan
Macau ( People's Republic of China)
Singapore
South Korea
Republic of China (Taiwan)
The reasons why India is included in the list are not far to seek.

Actually according to A.P.J.Abdul kalam , INDIA isn't a developing country , he quotes saying that INDIA is a developed country but there r some problems like the Poverty and Corruption and all those!

But according to the Human resource book , India is a developing country as they calculate all those per capita incomes of each person of the whole country and the literacy rate ....
as our rural population is high and the above factors r low in rural areas abviously in over all those values will be low.
Thus its stated as a developing country !

So Hence , Its a developed country if we consider some factors and its not a developed country but instead a developing country if we consider some other factors.

I hope my answer is useful even though its not a 100% answer :)
I am just a student so i cldn't fully answer ur qstion ;)

Yes India is a developing country. It has not yet reached the level of the developed country but progressing from the utmost poor to a growing economy. The poverty, education, GDP, development of people and infrastructure etc. to name a few criteria still require a lot for moving into it the group of developed ones. Hence, Goood luck to the efforts and dream of a developed one to realise in the future.

namaste You need to organise Trade Unions!! Smash the big businesses before they get started! Ensure fair working hours, fair pay and make the companies take responsibility for the welfare of the people that they employ!!! The big businesses will try to take advantage of you now that it is becoming too expensive (and too much trouble) for them to operate in Europe, but don't let them walk all over you. Even if you have high demands it will still be cheaper for them to run operations from your country and they will give in to your demands. Ensure a national minimum wage, maximum 39 hour working week, with extra money on top of normal wage, for those who choose to work more than the 39 hours per week. For every 4 hours worked there should be at least 15 minutes break. Tell them you want a company subsidised healthcare scheme and contributory pension, share schemes, etc. Also company funded training for all employees so that they may improve themselves and have better chances of promotion, ie company libraries, training days, etc. If you do not have trade unions, the companies will make a very large profit and merely invest it in their own countries, if they are forced to give a decent share of profit back to their Indian employees, the money will remain in the indian economy, good luck!!

Why not? If the term "development" is compared with other countries always we may find the answer in "NO"
Instead, if it compared with the speed of development taking place in recent times, the answer should be "YES"
Just one example is enough to prove this:
The capability we our great ISRO Scientists achieved in recovering an orbiting satellite by successfully bringing back a spacecraft to earth is path-breaking event heralding its arrival as a SPACE POWER.
Our country always utilised these powers only for the development of agriculture, education, medical services, distance education, finding out natural resources....etc., thus to achieve alround development of the nation. This approach is keeping our nation in rapidly developing country of the world for which we must be proud of.
