I got a very nice woolen jumper for xmas and washed it under the instructions, wool wash and washed alone, it is now very tight and i have to keep stretching it out throught the day so it fits...

Is there any way of returning it to its original shape..

put it on the quickest 30 deg wash that you can then reshape it before lying it flat to dry- you can buy special hangers that will do this- i saw them in a lakeland plastics catalouge this morning £ 7.99 for 2- but the easiest way i have found is to lie it across a clothes airer thats not put up x ps. don't pull the sleeves while its really wet of they will end up a mile to long- trust me i made that mistake and once its stretched it won't go back!!!

wash it again on a very cool quick wash, your machine will probably have a "wool wash" re shape it while it is still wet and dry it flat, do you have one of those plastic coated clothes airers? fold it down, balance it over the bath and lay your jumper on there, should do the trick, good luck

A Wooly Jumper is a Sheep Crossed with a Kangaroo isn't it?

I had the same problem but i found using a very good softener made the jumper soft and pliable. Try it. :))

Woolly jumpers once shrunk.........will never be the same again........
Some seem to survive ok, and some just keep on shrinking, little by little
