You broke something, and need it checked out by a mechanic. I would say off hand that you broke something that let it loose the fluid from the transmission, or knocked off some wires that are in direct relation to the gears. Either way something is broken.

It sounds like your "go button" got disconnected from the engine. Just a simple trace of the wiring diagram could fix it...
Or it could be the loose nut behind the wheel if you went really fast over the train tracks.
My advice would be to follow the guy who works on cars that answered to his place. He can probably find the go button faster than I can, since I spend most of my time in the realm of the theoretical and can't be bothered with most Earthly matters.
