Your question cannot be answered according to your specifications.
There are many valcanoes in Japan with only thre letters in the name. Aso being the most well known of them. And the largest caldera in Japan.
But the MOST ACTIVE Volcano is not three letters long.
Sakurajima, a stratovolcano on the the island of Kyushu, is one of the most active volcanoes on Earth. Since it's first recorded eruption in A.D. 708, Sakurajima has been in nearly constant eruption.
Usu- Eruption in March 2000 is the first eruption in 22 years
Abu- Has possibly erupted during the holocene period. sometime within the last 10,000 years.
Zao- Has erupted in 1940, 1939?, 1927?, 1905, etc..
Aso- The central cone group of Aso consists of five peaks: Mt. Neko, Mt. Taka, Mt. Naka, Mt. Eboshi, and Mt. Kishima. Aso is a caldera about 12 miles (20 km) in diameter. Only Naka-dake has erupted in historic time. The first historical eruption was at Naka-dake in 553. Naka-dake has erupted 167 times since then. Recently in 1993. Aso caldera is one of the largest in the world and is home to 50,000 people. The present Aso caldera formed as a result of four huge caldera eruptions occurring over a range of 30 – 90,000 years ago
Going by your three letter criteria, Aso is your answer. It is the most active of the volcanoes with three letters.
Sakurajima- is the most active volcano in Japan. (and one of the most active in the world)
Kagoshima city with a population of half a million is located 10 km west of Sakurajima Volcano.
The city lies 2 km from the danger zone. Sakurajima has been called the Vesuvius of the east. Since it's first recorded eruption in A.D. 708, Sakurajima has been in nearly constant eruption. .

UPDATE:
romesdad: Fujiyama is the most famous volcano in Japan, but in no way near the most active ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD
John: Aso is the most active 3 letter name but not the most active in Japan. the question as stated cannot be answered
Nice wholesale cut and paste job by the way instead of cut/paste why don't you just paste the link to your plagerism?

oconoshishin: Usu is the most recent eruption but no where near the most active in Japan. just the most recent.

Aso is a caldera about 12 miles (20 km) in diameter. Of the numerous stratovolcanoes and cinder cones inside the caldera only Naka-dake has been active in historic time. The first documented eruption in Japan was at Naka-dake in 553. Since then, Naka-dake (shown above) has erupted 167 times. The most recent eruption ended in 1993. Most eruptions of Naka-dake are small to moderate in size. Most are simple explosions that produce ash or blocks. Aso has not produced lava flows in historic time. Only 8 eruptions have caused fatalities. Most fatalities are tourists on the rim of the cone. Note people sledding and skiing in the foreground.
