Upto a few days ago, if an anwerer contacted me through my avatar, I used to get "message from XXX" in my inbox. I could tell immediately who the message was from.
Now it's "you've received a message from another yahoo user". If I receive 4 messages from four different people I cannot tell at a glance which message is from whom. This is especially inconvenient when I wish to reply to a certain message at a later time. I just have to open them one by one till I get the message I'm looking for.

I therefore repeat my above question, with a corollary:
Can't we revert to the older system? Or would someone care to explain what prompted the change?

You are 100% correct my friend. Just like an over engineered car, that has more than it needs. Coke learned their lesson when they changed the formula on their drink a few years ago. Didn't take them long to realize what a bad mistake they had made did it? This opens the door for a worm infested message too. Never open an email you don't recognize, and now we have many we can't distinguish between. I don't like it, and agree that something needs to be done yesterday about this.
Glad to help you, Good luck!!!

The yahoo team is always moving the goalpost while the game is on
Regarding the system you mentioned, you can revert to the older system from your Edit Settings page. The mail account informatin page has the link to the Settings/Profile page of your Yahoo 360/Answers account

They did the same with yahoo photos! It was fine how it was, now its a mess. and they keep trying to upgrade my messenger but God knows what will happen...and the so called upgrade on mail is crazy too! Do the NOT have a feedback group? Do they only employ yes-men? Hope they find better ways to kill time...

You might have to ask this question in Yahoo! products so that they might answer.
