I slightly resent your sterotype of people who have been 'churned out' by the public school system. I don't think her education has anything whatsoever to do with her ignorance when it comes to things like racism etc. She's clearly not a particularly bright girl but her parents obviously had the means to send her to public school (I'm guessing she boarded). I went to a public school from the age of 3, and boarded from age 11, but there's no way I'm racist or homophobic. If anything I'm less so due to the nature of boarding schools where there are people from all races and backgrounds.
Lucy Buchanan seems to be one of these people that give private education a bad name, and there are many many of us out there who don't want to be tarred with that same brush, and are somewhat embarrassed.

Well, now we know where the likes of the National Front get their support from... Actually, I happen to think that, in a way, her comments are far worse than what Jade Goody said, which I think was mostly just bitching. I mean, come on, slavery...?? I don't think even Nick Griffin supports that (as far as Im aware... I could be wrong though...)
To be fair, she does have one excuse: she's young, so maybe in time she'll grow a brain. If not, she could always get a job as a Daily Mail columist (and join the likes of Melanie Phillips etc - after all, this is the paper which supported Adolf Hilter up until 1938). Lets just hope she (and others like her) wise up and get real, there's too much uninformed bigotry around at the mo.

I also went to a public barding school, but I am most definately not racist, homophobic or prejudiced against different cultures or fat people. I think it is down to the parents, and maybe her upbringing.
Unfortualntly at boarding school, you did get some stuck up little arrogant opinionated little kids who thought the world owed them.
I think she just needs to grow up and have a hard taste of reallity. Why are the people on shipwrecked a bunch of "ever so perfect" slim white people?
If they had a black person, a fat person and or a gay person, then I think it would be more interesting, and they would be able to put this horrblie little Nazi Queen in her place.

There may be some value in showing how this clearly very ignorant girl receives an education on matters of race and class in the coming weeks on the programme. That has, I believe, been C4's indication. Anything short of that would sail close to vindicating her repugnant views. I should add that I myself am not a product of the public school system, and would not rush to suggest that there is necessarily something inherent in that system that might propogate Lucy Buchanan's views. They are the product of broad inexperience.

I now honestly believe that the tv comany in question is deliberately trying to cause racial hatred and trying to show 'white people being racist'. If this was a black contestant saying similar things about white people, they would have cut it out. These shows that are 'live' usually are 15 minutes behind so that a mediator can cut the sound when it's inappropriate so we can't hear what they are talking about. Why couldn't they do it with CBB and now this show? Is it because I iz whyte?

Multi cultural Britain is not working the sooner people wake up and realize this the better, some are in lala land thinking its working haha, its not working and it never will work and frankly speaking I hope it never works. Although some would disagree but multi cultural is disastrous for this country and those who disagree are a minority.
Racism will always exist, it exists in each and everyone of us, its only natural were human and this is a fact, everyone has hates, dislikes and preferences. One more thing any immigrant, asylum seeker or not REAL Briton, CAN BLOODY WELL LEAVE….

I think in some ways she does have a point, she just aired her views in the wrong way.
She mentioned that there are too many cultures within this country and I agree... If we go to any other country we have to abide by their rules, for example...
1, Women go to certain countries and they have to cover up from head to toe
2, Blonde women are advised to cover their hair in Dubai because there's a possibility they'll be attacked
3, Couples can't kiss in public in many countries
People from any culture can come to Britain and us Brits have to go with what they want because that's the kind of society that has been built here.
As for the overweight comment I guess she's never been overweight nor been around anyone that is overweight, if she knew someone that was I guess she'd have a different view on the subject - she's probably from an upper class family that can afford good food and have no worries.
Whatever happened to freedom of speech?? The girl has her views on life, why can't she speak her mind?? You don't agree with her, that's fair enough but why give her a hard time???
I don't agree with what many do-gooders have to say but I don't shoot them down or ridicule them - they have their views, you have yours and I have mine.... we're all entitled to what we think.

I find it hard to believe she is real, the writers of racists literature must have conjured her on a lap top in some sleazy back room.
In all my life, I have never come across such a crass, obnoxious, ill educated creature. If she did go to a decent school I am sure they will want to distance themselves from her very quickly. I only saw about five minutes of the show, I switched off immediately I heard her diatribe on people different from her.

i think she has led a very sheltered life and I suspect her viewpoints are those of her parents. She seems very immature and hopefully being exposed to different people for the next 5 months will help her to grow up and realise that her views are discriminatory and that in order to lead a fufilling life she needs to embrace all that's out there, not just selected little bits!

It cracks me up to hear people in this country denigrating immigrants while calling themselves "true Brits". There's no such thing as a true or pure Briton. This is a nation of mongrels and cross-breeds. Read your history people. If we kick out the immigrants the place will be empty!
