I personally HATE fenders. Dont play fender just because every person in history of earth has one. Buy it because you like how it plays and sounds. Always try a guitar before you buy it, ALWAYS.

My personal experience is that Dean guitars are making the best guitars right now for the price. The look and sound amazing and are accessable to most wallets. I got an amazing Hardtail Select for like 600 CHEAP!! Second brand choice would be Ibanez (I pick Ibanez only due to the fact that you are a beginner and they are fantastic guitars for the price.)

Well, (if you're made of money that is) you should buy a Stratocaster. It's the best money can buy.

If you're not that rich, buy a Yamaha. Prices on these vary, but mine was half the cost of a Stratocaster.

Fender is also very good. But find what fits you best. For example, Ibanez guitars are better with metal kind of music. Stratocasters do pretty much everything (becasue you don't have enough money to but another guitar after buying it.)

But my lil' ol' Yamaha does just fine. I play everything. Surf, Latin, Jazz, Marches, Blues, and Rock. It has worked great for me. This is what I have.

Hope this helps.

My opinion: Electric: if you can afford, get a Gibson. On a budget? Epiphone. Only downfall is they are heavy but they sound sooooooo goood! Make sure it has a set neck!

Acoustic? Taylor,Martin,Guild,Gibson. Stay away from Fender in this area

Amp: Marshall, Randall, Vox or Fender

it depends entirely on what type of music you intend to play on it! But I would not suggest anything with a cheap bolt on neck like a Fender Fender Fender lol
