Speak to your doctor, he / she will be the best to tell you exactly when it is the right time for your injection.

I used to have this injection and I had to be on my period before they would do the 1st one, I then had to have it "topped up" every 13 weeks.
I had Depo Provera and had no side effects at all, but not everyone is as lucky. Remember once its in your system you cannot take it out, so any side effects you may suffer will be there until the injection wears off. You might also have to wait a little longer if you want to fall pregnant in the future.

You can go on it whenever you like. It is every three months approximately not every month. It is not recommended to wait 13 weeks 12 must be a max, if it is 13 before you have a jab use another contraception aswell for about a week after having the jab, i have mine every 11 weeks and all is ok. Make sure they do it in your bum cheek and not your arm. The arm kills!

Have a read here.
You will need to be on you period when you get your 1st jab to be covered straight away. If your not on your period you can still have it but wont be covered for the 1st 7 days.
You wll then need to get a jab every11-12 weeks to keep you covered.
