Why can't people live without it (well, a few actually can)? This need can influence important decisions in life and not being able to get passed this need, means depression, self-dissappointment, low self confidence. I thank you in advance for your answers.

Aging rids you of a lot of the approval seeking. Are you sure the wording is correct? Are you seeking a cure for approval or are you seeing for the love of those who you feel that do not feel as you do? There are meds, if this is caused by chemical imbalance that will do the trick. Finding the doctor to help your chemical imbalance is as depressing as seeking approval.

Because all of us (even sociopaths to a particular extent) are reliant on others in this world. You, for example are looking for answers and confirmation in what you believe by asking this question. People generally need to feel that they fit in and that their opinion counts.

Some people really don't need approval, but this is fairly rare.

Even those who "live on the edge" of society say that they are non-conformists, but they usually end up seeking acceptance from others with the same mindset as well.

Human nature I guess. I do not think there is a cure for approval seeking, unless it is only a matter of a lack of confidence.

It actually is lower self esteem that causes approval seeking. If you are happy with yourself, then you do not need the approval of many people.

The cure is individuality and ethics.
