By allowing the racist abuse to be broadcast, do you agree Channel 4 are equally or even more to blame than the three ignorant girls?

I think Channel 4 should be accountable for the despicable scenes of bullying and racism we have seen over the past week. They have broadcast inflammatory scenes in order to get viewing figures.
It's about time the Minister for Culture (Tessa Jowell) got involved and imposed a huge fine on Channel 4.
There have been racist comments on Shipwrecked as well as Big Brother, and it's about time something was done to stop Channel 4 broadcasting this filth.
They're not doing society any favours by being controversial and nasty.

No, I think the girls are to blame because when anyone goes into Big Brother, a contract is put in place and the participants all agree that everything they do and say will be watched on camera and is very likely to be shown on TV. They can't then pick and choose which bits of their behaviour should be shown and which bits should be edited out.

Obviously if they don't want the world to see them behaving like a pair of juvenile idiots, they shouldn't be doing it in the first place and they're stupid for even going on the show. Sorry, but they haven't got a leg to stand on here.

Well, if you look at it on the flip side, if C4 edited out the racist comments, then C4 ends up protecting a bunch of racists. Is that better in your eyes? TV has a duty to show the truth - its up to the audience to decide what it means.

No. That would be absurd. They would have to prove that their own comments were actually racially abusive or racially motivated, and that C4 were somehow liable for their own comments.

Moreover, I not sure that showing racial abuse on tv is illegal - the question seems to be whether C4 has gone against Ofcom guidlelines.

I dont think they can sue it will have been in their contracts somewhere what can and wont be edited.

The girls really should have thought before opening their mouths and then channel 4 wouldn't be in this mess !!

I very much doubt it.

"Your honour, when we signed up for a reality TV show, we had no idea when we signed up that they would broadcast our every word."

Yeah right.

Fat ugly heifer gets famous making a fool out of herself on national television...

A few years and a few million pounds later, the same fat ugly heifer ends her career by making a fool out of herself on national television.

Who is surprised at that chain of events? Exile her to Canvey Island or Thanet, along with all the other racist troglodytes and have done with it.

I'd love to see them try to sue C4 over their ignorant comments. The case would be thrown out of court and they would look even more stupid than they do now.

Yes I do agree they are as much if not more to blame, but I still find it amazing that BB and Shipwrecked are the top items on the news with all the more important stuff going on in the world.
