The problem with Iraq is that it did not have western style democratic society before. It is like going to remote tribe in Africa and saying 'why aren't these people getting job and make money and buy some BMWs.'
Iraq doesn't have physical infrastructures or political infrastructures to be a peaceful democratic nation like us. It is huge misunderstanding to think that military or changing hands in the country's leadership will solve the problem. It takes long time, many decades as even the president mentioned to form a country like ours. That's why this military action is so controversial. If it takes 50,60, or 70 years to transform Iraq could we have done it without the US military involvement? I think Bush should have talked with Syria and Iran in attempt to stop foreign fighters from entering Iraq. We got to do whatever it takes to put Iraq behind us. If we care too much about who's evil or what Iraq thing won't go any where.

I agree that any government propped-up the US would not have majority support of Iraqis - Sunnis, Shiites, Kurds - therein lies the problem. BUT occupying, administrating, policing Iraq would require 500,000 US troops maybe; PLUS the likelihood of more civilians, insurgents killing more and more Americans - surely this is no longterm solution.
Not matter how long the US stay put to 'stabilize' Iraq - 5, 10, 20 years - it is just temporal to delay the inevitable: the secession of territories by the 3 main factions/groups. Iraq will disintegrate.
As of now it appears that the US is more pro-Sunnis (Al-Maliki) than the Shiites (majority in Iran) who are the main culprits in the daily sectarian bombings and violence. The Shiites who have been suppressed by a Sunni Saddam are now exacting revenge on the Sunnis.
Truth of the matter: you cannot trust any one group not even the Sunnis government to run Iraq without the presence of US troops. Pres Bush's remaining time in office is short, he has NO CHOICE but to commit more troops. But a pacification program takes years. You can't see positive results in a matter of months.
Real question is what will the next President do?

The Iraq Invasion, what's this war of the worlds? I play RTS all day, I think I could but I don't think Bush is so involved on the mission of Iraq.
Your army is not there because oil or democracy, there are things that I don't enough but you didn't think of.

If certainly one of Saddam Hussein's surviving family members threw a shoe at Bush, i could say it extremely is comprehensible. yet so what? Does that mean Saddam grow to be a great guy? human beings have been on no account in it to thrill.

but a lot of the majority of the people do support bush and the new gov. a lot of people over there lost loved ones under sadium's leadership. Bush is simply trying to get the good to over take the bad. We in america sure don't want to see another 9/11 do you? The democrats are just trying to find something to whine about, you know. and the one's that are whining probably didn't lose anyone on that dreadful day 9/11. i am very proud of our president and i still agree he is doing the right thing over there.

I would find a way to make all the ethnic groups happy. Even if you have to split the country and form 2 separate countries. The people there have a deep rooted hatred for each other.

The first thing I will do is remove Bush's shoes and get new ones and then halt the invasion and come back home.

I would pull out the troops now that Saddam is dead & let them deal with their own in-fighting.
