Not an easy question and I certainly don't claim to have all the answers; having said such, logically speaking, if "God" had created "Adam & Adam" and/or "Eve & Eve", how the heck would conception have occurred? No conception=no babies=no children=no adults=no society. The "traditional" family structure (ie: father/husband, mother/wife, kids,..) was and STILL IS God's intentional makeup of what we call "society"; the very foundation of civilization. Not altogether a bad idea, you think? For the preservation of civilization as we know it? Maybe. Although, you gotta' kinda' wonder if there aren't some deeper issues at the core (heart) of this topic. If I were you, I'd be readin' about as much material as I could get my hands on, regarding this subject. The "New King James Version Bible" and "The Living Bible" would be a good start. Good luck on your quest for the answers to life's difficult and often, puzzling questions. Peace out!
*note: The preceding commentary is that of none other than "CaliModel", who herself, while not religious, is very spiritual and adopts the philosophy "Live and Let Live".

How do you know god forbids homosexuality? Has s/he spoken to you lately? Has s/he spoken to anyone lately?

I don't think god forbids homosexuality. I think s/he forbids immoral behaviors, be they homosexual or heterosexual.

The biblical prohibition against homosexuality stems from a time when the survival of the human race was in doubt and reproductive capacity could not be wasted. Come on, man. You can't really take a book that condones slavery and talks about burnt offering sacrifices literally, can you? Today, in this time of over-population, I think god welcomes homosexuality!

Those who say it's a choice are just plain wrong. First of all, common sense says that couldn't be so. Why on earth would anyone choose a lifestyle so subject to harassment, discrimination, violence and even death? Yes, they put gay people to death in mid-east countries, not to mention the hate crime killings in other countries. And, secondly, there is research that shows beyond a doubt that people really are born that way.

Who says God forbade it? Some religious texts.

Who wrote the religious texts? Men

Therefore Men said God forbade it.

When? Thousands of years ago.

Why? To manage a social situation where several religions were vying for supremacy and the political clout that it would engender.

If it was written so long ago, what is it's relevance today? Not much, except a misgiven attempt to selectively apply social mores out of the social context that engendered them.

It keeps the sheep together.

Reconciling Christian faith in the Bible and homosexual orientation can certainly be a very trying stage in one's life. Popular notion would suggest that the two are incompatible. Simply ignoring or disregarding apparently anti-homosexual texts in the Bible does not sit well with many Christians, as much as they may want to do so. However, after a thoughtful reading of the Bible and a lot of prayer I have found the two to be, while maybe not quite "compatible", at least NOT incompatible.

The most explicit anti-homosexual language is found in the book of Leviticus. Leviticus also forbids eating shellfish and commands men to stone adulterous women to death. Many such Old Testament laws were effectively nullified by the new covenant with Christ.

All New Testament references to homosexuality refer to it in the context of pedophilia, bestiality, adultery, orgies, etc. (sexual immorality). The Greek and pagan historical contexts for such references must be considered as well. It is not made clear EITHER WAY whether a morally sound homosexual relationship (one of love, devotion, and monogamy) is possible. The subject is simply not addressed.

The most logical and spiritually sound conclusion I have come to is that homosexual behavior is held to the same Biblical moral code as heterosexual behavior and that sexual immorality, whether with the opposite or same sex, is wrong in the eyes of God. Upon a sensitive reading of the Bible it cannot be categorically stated that homosexuality is wrong without regard to context.

The idea that a loving, just, moral person who lives a true Christian life would go to Hell simply because they acted on their inborn homosexual orientation is a notion that does not sit well at all with my concepts of God and Christ.

God doesn't forbid homosexuality, some interpretations of the Bible does. Isn't it interesting that: (1) cavemen didn't pictograph the Bible and (2) that no one has heard from God in a long time -- after so many years, you would think that the Bible would have grown to be larger than the internet that started a few years ago.

Honey God does no forbid it, Don't listen to these "christians" because all they are doing is speaking from what their parents taught them about a flawed book. The truth is you CANNOT choose your sexual preference. The God you speak of is a "loving god" who doesn't love everyone. Christianity is not the only relgion in the world, it is not the truth it is simply people also trying to understand why we are here. The truth is if you are happy , it doesn't matter what people think of you and the God or higher being that created us would NOT create us the way he did if he intended to send us to "hell". I have many issues with christianity and the bible. BE PROUD OF WHO YOU ARE.

Read the bible its really quite entertaining and you will notice that when jesus comes rollin into town in the new testamant there will not be any further mention of homosexuals being evil. why you ask? for the same reason we dont wait 5 years to replant wheat afer performing an animal sacrifice on our wheat field (or something like that) and for the same reason we no longer turn away lepers or kill prostitutes etc etc

You opened the can of religious worms - will people never learn? PEOPLE forbid homosexuality. Until God himself comes down to earth to tell me I'm going to hell, I'll continue living my life as an honest, law abiding, clean conscienced homosexual.

God does NOT forbid homosexuality...He created and loves us all. It's the bigots who re-translate and quote bible verse out of context that forbid it.
and no, of course we do not "choose" to be gay....still can't understand why people make that ridiculous assumption.

God doesn't forbid homosexuality. It just says it in the bible which isn't word of God, it's the word of bigots who sought pleasure in sheep.
