I have always seen people working in big corporate offices, MNCs carry branded handbags (e.g. LV / Gucci / Prada / Coach etc) around esp during events or seminars, even meeting clients. I really admire the sophisicated touch added to a presentable (yet expensive) outfit. What do you think?

If you have a branded handbag that looks awful, I'd put it down to very poor choice made and then the rest of you gets a second look (your clothes, your posture...everything). Instead of adding sophistication, its removed it. If you have a practical yet very nice looking a handbag, for certain it gets a lot of appreciation. Anybody who makes a good choice with their clothes, ones that make them look sensible and smart at the same time, is bound to choose a great bag to go with their everyday outfits (same goes with shoes and other accessories). Branded products are nice but don't buy them if they look hideous. No matter what brand, it doesn't add sophistication. My opinion :-)

Yes, and no. Carrying a branded handbag from luxury brands like LV or Gucci does create an impression of sophisticated-ness but if the wearer were to display a shoddy work attitude or work poorly, the impression the wearer gives off is that of a shallow, materialistic and lazy worker. Furthermore, these people draw attention to themselves because of the bags that they carry. Naturally, people expect some kind of behavior from people who carry expensive bags. An inexpensive yet stylish bag from the departmental store can also be sophisticated, if the wearer herself carries well.

The only bag that makes me notice a person in more detail is Coach. That is only because my Mother gifted me with several (12 to be exact) classic Coach hand bags over the years. The one I have are all classy nothing flashy or tacky. I get many compliments on them. As far as going out and buying designer labels to stand out. That's just not for me, never has been. All the bags Mom and I have bought were from thrift shops or estate sales and they have lasted years. I do have one store bought Coach, but my sweetie got that for me.
So, however they got em', it doesn't matter to me. Cause style has no price.

Yeah, I think it would add a touch of class and sophistication to a "not so expensive" outfit. You wouldn't really know the brand of the clothes right away, the other way around for the bag.

But branded or not, it's how you mix and match and manage to make it look sophisticated. Also, how you carry yourself. ;)

It is the person that carries the sophistication, not the bag. A handbag is just a handbag. Add confidence, intelligence, and a great smile and no one is going to to notice the bag....

Yes it does.
It shows you have style and that you care about your apperance and what people think of you. It shows sophistication and that you have money. It shows you know what fashion is and what top brands are. When i go to work i always take my LV bag with me. Its my baby and people always compliment me on it and it gives me a nice feeling.
So invest in one or if you dont have enough $$ you can rent one on-line for a quarter of the price and then you can always swap for a newer design.

I feel that people need to do what is necessary to add worth to their lives. If it is a Coach handbag that I had to buy for my daughter, well, ok. To impress colleagues at work, then no, they know how much they make, and driving that BMW should be good enough, but hey, America is good at going overboard as far as luxury, why not flaunt it, right? You have fake bo oobs, right?? Otherwise you will not be taken seriously.....lol

No, the wardrobe and accessories doesn't make the person. You can dress classy and inexpensive at the same time. You can look the part without spending all the money.

absolutely not. that italian brand gucci sucks. it is butt ugly. a fine dark soft black clasp or hobo or brown is perfect. Paris Hilton should wear those farout crazy thihgs, unless you are a jillionaire who acan afford to experiment and toss things away if it isn;t just right. then stick with classics. that is the word classics.

no it doesn't. all it means is that the person is willing to spend a crazy amount of money on something that really doesn't make that much of difference. i'll take personallity over prada any day.
