It was one of my favourite books as a child. I notice my mum hasn't kept it and also that it is quite difficult (and pricey) to obtain.

Yes it was the children's version of Pilgrim's Progress. Their sins were represented by giant things on their backs which got smaller as they became kinder, etc.

Yeap. I remembered reading most of Enid Blyton's books when I was a child.

Don't they still have this in the bookstores? If not, try the library. They might still have these books - in the children section of course. Recently I just saw some of the Enid Blyton's books on sales at a book fair.

You might want to try some second hand book stores or those shops where you can rent the books. You may be lucky enough to find them there.

Good Luck!

You could also try Abe books - they have a lot of copies but you probably won't get this book for any cheaper than £20. I read and loved loads of books by Enid Blyton as a child but never this one. Sounds good!

I read of of Enid Blyton's books as a kid but I don't remember that tiitle. Are you sure you aren't thinking of the Faraway Tree and the Enchanted Wood. If you climbed up the Faraway Tree you stepped off it into a different land.

You can get these 2 books in paperback from WH Smith.

The Land of Far Beyond was one of my favourites as a child...it is not the Magic Faraway Tree or the Enchanted Wood. This one was based on the Pilgrim s Progress and it is not as well-known as some of her other stories. It is beautifully written and deserves much more recognition as a children s classic. I read it more than 30 years agao and it has stayed with me forever.
