hewitt you obviously dont play golf dont confuse the poor girl
par is the number of strokes the experts think it will take to sink the ball which can be anywhere from 2 - 5.. a birdie is 1 under par an eagle is 2 under par bogie is 1 over par double bogie is 2 over par .........as to your question not up to par is a personal evaluation it means you are not performing the way you are expected to perform

I'm sorry to be the one to tell you this but this is just a sarastic way of saying, "You're not perfect."

"Par" comes from the golf term. If I'm not mistaken "Par" is when you hit the ball 3 times (1 drive and 2 puts) and get it in the hole, which is perfect, "Birdie" is average (4 hits), and "Boogie" is bad (above 4).

It means that it is not as good as it should be. In golf, par is the number of stokes it should take you to get from the tee to the hole. So, if you arn't up to par that means you are not as good as you should be. However, when people say this they are not usually referring to golf. It is just a saying.

It isn't as good as it should be. In golf, there is par for each
hole and one needs to try and make the par for the hole.

I think par just means average. When your game isn't up to par, it just isn't as good as it usually is. I see no reason why women cannot use that term.
