I am increasingly irritated, or worse by people cycling where I am walking. Some seem to go at speeds which, should they suddenly encounter a pedestrian in their path would surely mean that they would not have time to stop. If they hit the pedestrian then I'd expect that person to be injured - and the cyclist might be too (I'm more concerned about the pedestrian!). Is there legislation to prevent cycling on pavements and similar - which is thus overtly being ignored?

I totally agree with you on this one. Why does the country spend so much money on cycle lanes when they cannot be bothered to use them? Perhaps us pedestrians should have walking lanes?

This is the second question on this subject that I have come accross today.
It is most definitely illegal for cyclists to cycle on the pedestrian pavements except where they have been specifically designated as being for both users. Even where pavements are designated as being for the use of both pedestrians and cyclists, the cyclists should always be aware of and defer to the pedestrians. It is simply a matter of common decency and courtesy to others.

that is appropriate if the toddler is lower than 8 years previous and the cycle has stabilisers equipped, or is a baby's tricycle. between the a lengthy time period of 8 and ten years a baby can journey on the line yet must be supervised through an human being (over 18) motorcycles are a threat on the pavements and reason many injuries, ...and the riders at the prompt are not insured.

Children are allowed to ride on pavements, adults are not allowed. I think the cut off age is around 14. and yes this is rarely enforced.
However I am with the cyclists on this one, the roads are far too dangerous. I frequently see cars parked in cycle lanes and those who drive past them passing too close.
A cyclist-pedestrian collision is much safer than a cyclist-bus collision. But still cyclists should not go at unsafe speeds on or off the pavement.

It is illegal, but there again, so is parking your car on a pavement, and people seem to do this all the time.
