Look for a posturepaedic mattress as they are the best for your back and give you an excellent nights sleep. They are slightly more expensive but they last for years and you get your moneys worth. They sell them at Benson Beds, MFI, B&Q etc

I highly recommend the Sleep Number mattress. It's adjustable when you need it, comes in all sizes and will last longer than regular mattresses at about the same price. If you don't think you need that particular brand right now, most mattresses are about the same when it comes to lasting. Sealy Posturpedics are good for awhile longer.
Happy Dreams!

Get a Pocket Spring Matrass. When you 'test' the matrass, lay on it as you normally sleep, then try to push your hand under various points along your body to ensure the matrass is supporting you all the way, without being forced to bend. For example, too hard...there will be gaps say at waist level, ..too soft, you will 'sink' in the middle, bending your spine....either way, uncomfortable.

I've been shopping for one myself. I've found so far that the memory foam w/pillow top has been the most comfortable, followed by the sleep number mattress. Go somewhere that actually allows you to lie down on the mattress, and do so - the way you sleep (ie, if you sleep on side, stomach or back), and see which supports you best.

get one that has individual pocket springs in it - not one of those awful ones that's just got a mesh work of connected springs in it. apart from that, buying a mattress is all down to individual requirements. if u suffer from back problems, try getting a postupedic one. the only way u can tell if a mattress is well suited to u or is to go try them out. most shops expect u to try laying down on them - that's why the shops put plastic covers on the beds that protect the foot of the mattress. hope u manage to find a good one !

all i know is you should test them in the shop and make sure you're not tired when you go to test them because anything will feel comfy when you're tired. make sure you spend as much as you can afford, cheap mattresses don't last very long. hope this helps good luck
