8x-(2x-1)=2
I would firstly sort out the brackets
-(2x-1) = -2x +1
The formula is now
8x -2x + 1 = 2
Now move all number over to the right hand side.
8x -2x = 2-1
8 x - 2x = 1
now sort out the algebra
6x = 1
finally find x...
x = 1/6

You solve for y in terms of x from one equation, then substitute in the other. Or you solve for x in terms of y from one equation, then substitute in the other. 2x - y = 1. Solving for y gives you y = 2x - 1. Substitute this for y in 8x + 4y = 6, giving you 8x + 4(2x - 1) = 6, an equation in one variable. Or solve 2x - y = 1 for x, giving you x = (1 + y)/2. Substitute this for x in 8x + 4y = 6, giving you 8(1+y)/2 + 4y = 6, again an equation in one variable.

8x-(2x-1)=2; 8x-2x+1=2 ; 6x+1=2 ; 6x=2-1; x=1/6
- before() change the operation sign, -(2x-1) = -2x + 1
All of them know the right answer, look down :)
