Send the contents to a Zip File using the File on your Tool Bar at the top of the screen. After you do that you will have an option to add a Password to it.

Search www.download.com for password protect folder, use a highly rated free or cheap one.
you can't password protect files natively in XP, only encrypt them so no one can read them if the hard drive is removed from the PC.
