In order to improve your skill in a language you're yet learning, a movie with subtitlels in the same language is a very good idea; so, buy an Italian movie and set Italian subtitles.

I think an Italian film with subtitles works much better assuming you have some vocababulary. A friend of mine learned much of her Greek that way.

No!!! If you need to learn Italian go to some school or something and after u Have learned some than you should watch this film to improve Your pronunciation

No you need the English subs to learn the words ,here you have written descriptions and an audible pronunciation ,use an Italian dictionary as well.Italian to English.

Nope.
I'd watch Death Note (a Japanese movie) DVD with a very poor English subtitle.
It give me headache to figure out the story line and everything and somehow i manage to watch it to the end.

No... You wouldn't be able to make sense out of it. All you can get from it is have a sense of the right intonation. Thats all. You need the subtitiles to put it into context.
