I currently work in events management at my local college but the job is becoming more and more difficult to do properly due to red tape, I'm so bored I wish to leave and try something new, I'd be happy to work in admin or be a secretary, maybe in law or something but I dont know how to go about making the change, all the job adds I see want specific skills like audio and short hand which I dont have, I dont have the money to re-train. Any ideas?

Stick with the events management with the college for a while, and take advantage of the staff discount on the part time courses. Shorthand is very rarely used these days - I learnt it an college back in 1990/92 and have NOT used it at all in any of the places where I have worked.

Why don't you carry on with the day job and do night school to retrain? If you just chose one subject to study ie audio then that would not be too expensive and would open up more opportunities for you. I was in the same boat as you several years ago. I did night school to get a typing qualification, then took a secretarial job in a law firm, worked hard, they paid for me to train further and now I'm a lawyer. It's very interesting and the pay is good. Good luck

I started my own business when I was in school through BeautiControl. The Spa parties are really fun and relaxing and you really get out of it what you put into it. You decide your own schedule, how much or little you work, you have a lot of flexibility. Plus you also determine how much you can make and how much you can advance.

Let me know if you are interested.

Join in some training institutes to learn something that could get a better career. Begin as a trainee in any firm that could accommodate you after recognizing your capabilities.
