Hi there, can anyone tell me how to get rid of spoolsvc? I think there is a virus of some sorts on my comp. Spoolsvc usually appears whenever I open a browser and it takes up 99% of the cpu capacity causing my comp to be stuck in limbo

its not a virus, spoolsvc will cause high CPU usage if you've got an HP scanner or all in one type device installed. There is a fix from microsoft:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918165/en-us

try this, see if it helps.
Good luck!

Thought spoolsvc was the bit of windows responsible for print spooling... if so it may mean you've tried printing so much to a not working printer that your spooler is struggling.

Alternatively it may be a virus pretending to be your print spooler. But do you mean you are surfing without a virus scanner? I hope not.

Virus scan your machine. Use AVG or kasperski or panda online scan or any other virus scanner...

Empty your print queue. Start->settings->printers and check what's queued on each printer.

One or other of the above should fix it.

If you really don't want to print use control panel ->services to stop the print spool service.

You shouldnt get rid of this process as it is the printer spooling service. Mayb ur printers jammed or sumthing. Run an anti-virus to make sure.
