i guess i should amend this and say

the student who is much older than the average student(not a bad thing), and has to frequently interrupt and 'parrot' the teacher by repeating what they just heard and asking answers to questions they just heard 5 seconds ago...seriously, GTFO

I'm not in classes at the moment, but I've been in class with 'that' person many, many times. He isn't always 40+...he isn't always a "he"...in fact, he comes in many shapes, sizes, and ages.

I wish he'd get his freakin' degree already!

Hahaha! OMG! What is it with those people? Why is that when a "student" is older, they find it necessary to say every irrelevant thought out loud?? I have experienced so many of these people! Maybe there is a connection between why they cant keep focus on the relevant material and why they are in school at 40+! If there are any of you 40 + "students" out there, no you are not FUNNY, your irrelevant anecdotes are not AMUSING, it is ok to not speak out loud every thought that comes to your mind! WHY? Why do you do this?? Ahhh!

I didn't have a problem with elder "nontraditional" students hijacking the lectures.

HOWEVER...

There was always that one guy (seemed to usually be male at my school) who just had to hear himself talk. In physiology, it was David. David would not STFU and had to interject every 5 minutes. Maybe David was right to do so -- he set the curve for the class. But the class was 8am MWF and I was a senior. He just annoyed me, and I'd always grab my keys and pantomine chucking them at him. Everyone would see me do it, too, and they'd nod approvingly.

But it was the dude in my organic chemistry class who took the cake. Another guy who just wouldn't shut up. 600 people in an o-chem class, but he acted like it was just him and Professor Bertozzi in the room. He always sat in the first row, section stage right near the aisle. One day, he didn't show up for class. As she was trying to settle the class in, Prof. Bertozzi noticed his absence and said, "Hey, [name of student] isn't here today!" Then she proceeded to clap her hands, and EVERYBODY CHEERED.

Prof. Carolyn Bertozzi is a bada$$.

Maybe you should check your spelling before labeling other people retarded. Sorry if this is too straightforward, but I fail to see how asking this question helps anybody.
