I don't see the point of purchasing the same movie twice! if i already own a movie on dvd, and wish to put it onto my iPod, I won't want to have to repurchase a copy of the movie from iTunes. Is there a way for me to rip the dvd, like what you do to cd's? and then upload it onto the iPod? I haven't purchaed the iPod yet, so depending on the answer, i'll make my choice then. Thanks for your help!!

Yes you can.. but it takes several steps.

First download both a dvd ripper and the ipod video converter (do a search at downloads.com for both)

First use the ripper to put it on your computer in whatever format it would be converted to. Then use the ipod video converter to convert it the right format for ipod.

There are programs out there that you have to pay for that work better, but the free ones are decent and work fairly well.. I'm satisfied with them.

*edit: I can't remember the name of the dvd ripper so you'll just have to browse through what comes up in the search on downloads.com.. but the name of the ipod converter is: Jodix Free Ipod video Converter

Category: Consumer Electronics Answer: You may try some of the following: 1. Make sure your computer's drive supports DVD's (It may only play CD's) 2. Make sure the disk isn't scratched. If so the laser in your DVD player may not read it properly. 3. See if iTunes is working properly. 4. Try opening the Disk using a computer DVD PLAYER application other than iTunes to see if its the program or the hardware. Any more questions? Was this helpful? Email my avatar.

You can rip MP4s onto your I-Pod, but not DVDs. DVDs are in a Digital Video Disc format which contains data that an I-Pod is unable to read.

Although this type of tool is still in the 'challenge' status, you can have a look at the IMTOO stuff.

DVD Audio Ripper will do what you ask and then iTunes can inport the audio files

Try topmpx converter. it works like a charm, but it can't convert anything TOO long. like Lord of the Rings extended edition.

it needs a reg code, and allow me to email you my code, so that we can enjoy dvds. haha
