I don't remember the whole list, but I've read some of them, read other books by authors on the list, and, to answer the question someone else posed here, I've read hundreds of books.

I'm not sure the point is to inspire the entire planet to read all of these books. The goal is to try to dedicate more time to reading, to realize how many good books are out there, and how many good authors have written great material.

I'm sure I'll sample more from this list before I leave the planet, but in the meantime more books will come out that deserve to be on the list but aren't, and I'll try to read some of those, too.

I'm not sure anyone will ever have read every single last book on the list; that said, I've read a considerable chunk (nowhere even remotely near half), and I read quite a lot. I go to school for Literature, and I'd say I read between 500-1000 pages a week. That said, I'll probably never find time to finish all the books on that list (it's not a goal of mine, but I'm saying if it were...). I wouldn't worry much about it, just read a good book when you can make the time.

Better to do this question: Has anyone read 1001 books during all life ?

I read a few of them - trust me, there are a lot that arent worth reading on there unless you want to be the biggest bore at the party - some of them are really good (tree grows in brooklyn fav so far) but I have the rest of my life to finish that list!

I've read over a thousand books...but probably not many from that list. I haven't looked at it yet.
