racism is The prejudice that members of one race are intrinsically superior to members of other races. On the other hand Nationalism is The doctrine that your national culture and interests are superior to any other.
OK you may not agree with my definition of nationalism. Irrespective of whether definition is correct or not, nationalism does exists as I defined. Than why people react so abruptly to racism and totally ignore the evil of nationalism. Actually its same behaviour but base is different. In case of racism its color of skin or race and in case of nationalism its legal status or place of birth.

The two concepts racism and nationalism are philosophically related. The first deals with a group of people belonging to the same "tribe" while nationalism can contain many "tribes" under on "roof". I would say that originally racism was not a bad thing per se but a survival trait of the tribe. You have to believe that you are better than you vile and despicable neighbor or you will loose your edge when it comes to contesting hunting grounds and water rights. Racism of course has nothing to do with the colour of your skin. It's just one small aspect of reasons to dislike your neighbor. Nationalism is a modern 19th century invention. racism on a larger more sophisticated level as you so correctly put it. Like all things human we do have extremes therefore the only good Indian/*****/Protestant/Jew/Muslim/what not is a dead one. Fortunately in the overall scheme of things these idiots are just a nuisance at best. Bottom line racism is neither good or bad. It's a deep hardwired imperative of the human animal. We have learned to temper it and control it. At least most of us have.

hi, I have mixed thoughts as this may properly be a 2 edged sword: almost: i'd say covert is a touch more suitable because a minimum of those forms of human beings will cage the beast interior of and keep their concepts an comments to themselves while overt racists are in all probability as now to not shout or make nasty comments in the experience that they see you with a member of the option race, be more suitable susceptible to bodily harm you or make the priority you're in with them down appropriate depressing at perfect. Theoretically: Overt racism is larger. I once had a South African college professor who become East Indian or colored. I informed him that English speaking South Africans informed me that issues will be more suitable there if the Dutch ie Afrikaans had no longer were given ability after 40 9 because at the same time as the English loved more suitable equality for blacks and colored the Afrikaans did not. My prof laughed his head off and reported I advantageous had the incorrect impact, He and the blacks favored to manage the Afrikaans. The English were wishy washy, promised plenty and did little and they idea blacks were effective yet doesn't want one for a son or daughter in regulation now to not indicate take over lest yet or you'd be in Rhodesia's situation. in short, 2 confronted. The Afrikaans on the different hand were blatantly straightforward of their structure retaining we can tolerate no equality between black, white and colored and we will engineer separate progression and route! a minimum of he reported they were completely sparkling and non - whites knew how they stood and what had to be executed from there. Racism protects people from the unknown. People feel very uncomfortable when they don't know something or they don't understand it that they feel they should make it look small and insignificant instead of trying to learn and understand it. Nationalism is the love of ones country. It is a good thing to love country but it is a bad thing to try to make your country look better by insulting someones country. At the end of the day what do people know about the other countries? What they listen to the news? If that's the case then they are ignorant and easy manipulative. Do they know about the other civilisations by what someone told them? Then they are not only ignorant but they have no personal opinion since they just listen to what someone has to say, who may not have any idea at all! If you learn for a country by living in this country, by reading its history, by talking to it's people then you can judge and i say judge not underestimate! What i listen from people II live in UK) about my country (I am from Greece) is unbelievable! Sometimes i think they are talking about an alien country or Greece 40 years ago or something. It is as if people think they are progressing but all the others are sleeping!
Feel proud for your countries and love them but also love the people that you are living with in this planet because at the end of the day earth is very small place but we all fit!!!

To me nationalism means the loyality and devotion I have for my country. Nationalism as u have defined is as bad as racism. I dont know why so many people in the earth have superiority complex. We didnt choose our race or in the country we were born. Why would someone be proud of something that he or she didnt achieve?

All depends on what you define as racism. I believe racist or racialism is a belief in races or differences between the humans as a species. Racism is not bad by that definition for there really are differences even among races. Racism as thought of and defined today is "hatred purely between of those racial differences" and that is bad. Hatred is evil and God does not will it and will punish it if not repentant of it. Jesus said "Why do you think evil IN YOUR HEARTS?" and "But I say to you, that whosoever shall look on a woman to lust after her, hath already committed adultery with her IN HIS HEART." We must not even THINK evil upon anyone in our hearts. As for nationalism you are wrong. True nationalism is a LOVE for one's own nation and/or culture, not a hatred for all others; there is by necessity a need to love your own nation more than all others for your nation is that which you live and work in, and sustains you by the fruit of her land and which you can help directly. Do you feed your neighbor's children? Does your neighbor love your spouse as you do? Do you love you own mother equal or less than all others. It's has nothing to do with superiority but what is your own but there is a necessity heirarchy. You must inevitably love more that which you are closer to. What you perceive as nationism is not but really the sin of pride.
Furthermore all humans are fallen and all need God's Grace to become fully human again. St. Paul said "all have sinned, and do need the glory of God" and "Wherefore as by one man, sin entered into this world, and by sin death; and so death passed upon all men, in whom all have sinned." This is the doctrine of Original Sin and is the reason why we all need holy Baptism (to be cleansed) to wash away all our sins (original and personal/actual) and all guilt thereof and to receive God's Sanctifying Grace, His Own Supernatural Life in our souls.

I'm not sure why it is wrong to hate. Is it wrong to dislike something? Why should it be wrong to dislike a type of human? It's just what ya like and dislike.
