I have a Vauxhall Astra Diesel 1.7 on a '04 plate.

Driving in to work this morning - I noticed that my 'brake warning' light on the dash every once or a while would come on for about a couple of minutes then go off again.

The brakes feel fine - I believe the light also has something to do with the clutch system.
Any suggestions as to the likely problem?

brake fluid could be low or you could be losing fluid at a wheel cylnder or you could have the rotors or disk failing .. I would have your fluid levels checked first and then take it somewhere to have it checked.. never can be to safe .really

Hi

Check the fluid levels, and then check the brake pads for wear. The light will come on if the levels drop too low or the pads wear out.

Cheers

If you have ever driven a car when the brakes have failed you would not be asking this question, I have and I can tell you even at a low speed it is terrifying.Top it up and drive it straight to your garage, drive carefully and remember in the case of an accident you would be responsible.

Could it be your parking brake light? Sometimes the switch on your emergency brake might have an open in it. It will sometimes connect and sometimes not, even if the brake is not engaged.

You probably need to top up with hydraulic fluid (brake fluid). You can buy it any garage. Just check your hand book to make sure you put it in the correct reservoir.
