While I haven't heard Americans in the USA be prejudiced about Brazilians in general, I imagine many of them who visit Brazil may not be the best example of our culture. The ones who are polite won't stand out much, while the ones who are loud and pushy and expect everyone to speak English will, unfortunately, stand out.

If it makes you feel any better, I've loved every Brazilian I've ever met. If all Brazilians are like the dozen or so that I've known, I could have a whole country full of good friends.
