I'm answering simply because all the answers don't tell you this: don't waste your time.
Yes, a business requires determination and a winning attitude that will be upset by nothing and no one. But Amway is not even a business. Everyone knows Amway is a scam. And those who don't call it that are probably trying to sell you something.
If you want to know exactly how Amway is NOT the right decision, next time you go and talk to one of the guys at the meetings, ask them to tell you the AVERAGE YEARLY INCOME FOR AN AVERAGE AMWAY ASSOCIATE. Don't let them say things like "Well, the POTENTIAL is big...", or "As much as YOU want to make..." That's not facts.
Get hard facts.
Amway along with Quixtar (their sister company) were battling the court in order to present themselves as a legitimate business. The courts gave way, BUT, the courst stipulated that Amway MUST BY LAW reveal the average yearly income of an average associate to anyone who asks.
I believe it's less that $8,000 per year. And I'm exaggerating because I don't want to be wrong. It's actually less than that.
If you can live with that per year, go ahead and join Amway. The way I see it, you're probably smarter and more capable at something else. If you can come up with an idea and just need start-up money, take a year to save up. It's better to try something you can learn from, than to try something where you're 99.99% likely to lose money.
Good luck.

Hi Brajeshsi,Amway is good if you don't mind working hard for the next 10 years while the people above get richer,l have met many people who have done amway including myself and we all never made any money from it,you need to get over 75 people just to make 3% and by that time you would've spend about $5000 or more on products and still not made any money, the people at the top like you and others because you are going to make them richer. There lots companies like amway that make you put lots of people in so the top get rich.

Do not go for it.
They project lot of dreams and it looks like one would reach heaven in no time and without much effort.
In reality very few people reach some comfortable level after very hard labour. As per my assumption maximum ONE in 50000 (may be more) people can become Diamond.
This is not a business in real sense. This is more of a selling LIE.
The product standard is very good and price is too high. They may prove cost effective by misleading calculations, but that's not true.
Also you will have growth once your network increases. If 100 person starts the network and every one makes 10 dealer every month in 8 months the total number of AMWAY dealer would be 111 crore 11 lakh 11 thousand. Is it practically possible !!

Drug dealers need business cards too *whatever* I think that a Big Butt on your business card shows you have a special way of enjoying the Lush & Bountiful Life. Do it! Things not to put are Bugs ...I don't like bugs. Oh and a Picture of your penis--- not so sure that would go good with the people over at the neighborhood BBQ.

Amway is good provided you have time to attend their meetings, follow strictly thier guidelines and have enough time to make presentation to people. It is a 24 hours job initially. If you try to do it onyour own way, you will flop.

I tried twice and did not succeed. Frankly, their product line and pricing aren't competitive anymore with Wal-Marts all over the place. Bad business move in my opinion.
Spend your time learning Ebay auctions and find one niche product to buy wholesale, stock in your garage and sell. Become THE seller of that one item. It can lead to other things over time, but a good way to learn the biz.
